WHO IS THIS COMPETITION FOR?The ScoreLive Competition is part of our GEMS music educational program, open to every composer of any age, nationality and country of residence, who feel they can take on the creative challenge to tell a passionate and original story through music. If you want to have a piece of music you have written played at the start of a Gala Concert at the International Film Music Festival Gandia. If you want to hear your music played live by a professional 60 piece orchestra. If you can take the challenge to write a piece of music for the Gala Concert If you want this, then this ScoreLive Competition is for you.

OUR AMAZING PRIZE · WHAT IS INCLUDEDOUR AMAZING FIRST PRIZE 1 The winning composition will be the opening piece played at Gala Concert at the International Film Music Festival Gandia, Spain 2 Two nights accommodation, double room for two people, Gandia 3 Up to 500€ for your flight and travel Runner Up Awards All Runner Up composers will each Win a VIP pass to the Gala Concert at the International Film Music Festival, Gandia, Spain. 8pm, September 16th 2023.

ALTERNATIVE TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION OPTION 1000€If you prefer to manage your own travel and accommodation to join us, then you can. We will pay up to 1000€ towards your personal travel and accommodation that you organise. You must first purchase your own travel and accommodation and provide receipts and proof of purchase and proof of payment to ScoreLive. Your travel and accommodation you organise must ensure you arrive and are in Gandia the day before July 15th and the day of the Gala Concert, July 16th. see faq 23 for full details

WHAT MUSIC CAN I SUBMIT?The ScoreLive Competition makes this a real world working experience. It gives you the best possible opportunity to see what you can compose and to show our judges and the Gala Concert audience, just how well you can write for a big orchestra. Your music must be your own original composition. If you have an original composition you simply love, and think would be prefect piece to be played at our Gala Concert at our International Film Music Festival in Gandia, Spain? Get inspired, write a new piece or use one you all ready have, an effective piece of music that encapsulates some of the variety of popular cinema music. Drama, Action, Romance, Comedy, Fantasy, Adventure, you decide! That's it! So if you are up for the challenge of composting a piece for the International Film Music Festival Gala Concert, then this is for you.

CAN I UPLOAD MY MUSIC AFTER I HAVE REGISTERED?Yes. Once registered, you can submit your music anytime before the deadline using the Upload Button at the bottom of the home page here. or email your music to support@scorelive.london with your name on the audio file

REGISTRATION FEERegistration fee 65 Euros The registration fee is payable via our website, using PayPal or Credit Card. To avoid disappointment, we recommend payment in advance, before the deadline. We reserve the right to close entry before the competition deadline.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I HAVE WON?We will announce the winner on our ScoreLive Facebook page, and notified you via your registered email, on August 30th 2023 at noon (GMT).

WHEN IS THE GALA CONCERT DATESeptember 16th, 2023 8pm

WHAT IF I CAN NOT ATTEND THE GALA CONCERTThe ScoreLive winner must attend the Gala Concert in person at the International Film Music Festival Gandia, September 16th 2023. If the ScoreLive winner is unable to attend the Gala Concert, for what ever reason, the prize will pass to the second place composer.

SUBMITTING YOUR MUSICSubmit your music as an audio file Title your audio file with your full name (this will be removed before judged) Go to the ScoreLive home page and upload your audio file using the Upload registration form. Use the same email address you used to register when you submit the Upload registration form on the home page. Alternatively, send your audio file to our email address support@scorelive.london In the message section on the email add your name you used when you registered. We will send you an acknowledgement email once we have successfully received your audio file

HOW SHORT OR LONG CAN MY MUSIC BE?A minimum of 1:30 minutes A maximum of 3:30 minute, And anywhere in between.

WHICH INSTRUMENTS CAN I USE IN MY MUSIC?You can use any instruments from your DAW sound library, including effects or live instruments etc, for your competiton entry.

DO I NEED TO SUBMIT MY SCORE & PARTS?Only if you win. We require your score or parts only if you win, and sent to support@scorelive.london by September 1st 2023. Once the winner has been announced, you will need to either: Send in your score and parts for review by our orchestrator by the date above if you have them. Work with our orchestrator to prepare your piece to create the score and parts to fit the instrumentation of the gala orchestra. This may mean editing, shortening, simplifying, removing or swapping certain instruments you selected for your entry to work with the orchestral lineup. September 1st - 2nd our orchestrator will score review your work with you to prepare the score with you. September 3rd Your score and parts will be sent to the orchestra. If you have been advised to make orchestration changes to your composition during your score review for your music to be played at the Gala Concert and you chose not to make those changes, this may effect the quality, time and playability of your composition, which could result in an incomplete performance, or not having your piece played at the Gala Concert. We will work our hardest to ensure your music is performable. ScoreLive reserves the right to cancel the performance of your piece at the Gala Concert, if it is deemed unplayable by our orchestrator or the director of the orchestra.

HOW DO WE CHOOSE THE WINNERWe look for the best! All registered composers music will be individually reviewed and placed in ranking order. The top ranking composer will be announced as the overall winner. All composers music is randomised and anonymous when sent to the judges and are graded on the following criteria. Demonstrated the ability to create an effective piece of music that encapsulates some of the variety of popular cinema music Demonstrate an understanding of playability for an orchestra (Orchestration) Demonstrate Composition Demonstrate Texture Variety Demonstrate Melody & Harmony

DO I OWN THE MUSIC I SUBMITTED?Yes. You keep full ownership all the authors rights to your music you submitted. Anyone who accepts a prize from the competition agrees to provide a non-exclusive perpetual license to ScoreLive Competition, GEMS Film Scorings Summer Program and founder Nigel Ashley Lees, to share, perform, and promote all or a parts of their work created for the ScoreLive Competition including the Gala Concert.

SOCIAL MEDIAThe winner, who accept the prizes, agree to provide ScoreLive Competition and GEMS full ownership of the any or all audio, video, digital content of them or that includes them, created on, during or for the ScoreLive Competition or GEMS Film Scoring Summer Program, to use in our promotions, marketing and admissions campaign across our social media and websites. Digital content will be shared with all participants for them to use as well.

DISCLAIMERS & COMPETITION RULESDISCLAIMERS & COMPETITION RULES ScoreLive Competition reserves the right to disqualify, without refund of any or all registration fees, any participant who fails to submit their music by the stated deadline. By submitting your music, you, the participant agree, that your composition is an original score composed only by you. Participants hold the competition organisers harmless and will indemnify against any costs or damages or liabilities incurred by breach or alleged breach of this representation. ScoreLive Competition is under no obligation to provide comments or feedback regarding the submitted composition or the decision process. ScoreLive Competition deny any responsibility for, and will not be held responsible or liable for, the contents of any internal comments or feedback regarding any score. If you are under 18, and selected, you will need to attend the Gala Concert with an accompanying adult. Prizes are not transferable to another person nor another date. TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION You have 2 TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION options Book a flight and stay at the hotel paid for you by ScoreLive. Organise your own travel and accommodation TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION OPTION 1 500€ TOWARDS TRAVEL & PRE PAID HOTEL YOUR FLIGHT & TRANSPORT ScoreLive Competition will pay up to 500€ towards your return flight and transport to Spain. RECEIPTS FOR FLIGHTS & TRANSPORT You must first purchase your own return flight and transport and provide transport receipts such as the train and or a flight ticket receipt from the airline with proof of purchase and payment to ScoreLive. The flight ticket must be in your name. Flight and Travel covered are for the winner only and based on economy return flights only to Spain. Once verified, you will be refunded up to 500€ by bank transfer or PayPal on September 17th 2023. YOUR HOTEL The prize includes a paid 2 nights stay, breakfast included for two people. The room is a double room for one or two people. You will need to show photo identification such as a passport at check in. You will be sent the check in/check out details prior to arrival. DATES: 15th - 16th July CHECK OUT: 17th July You will need to submit your bank card details to the front desk to cover any and all additional service costs you choose to hire or purchase at or through the hotel and to cover any and all damages you may make during your stay at the hotel, as they are all paid by you and not ScoreLive. You will be sent an agreement to cover these terms and conditions prior to arrival. If you agree to stay at the hotel yet do not stay at the hotel, you will be liable for the cost of the hotel booking. Your ScoreLive Competition hotel accommodation prize will be nullified if you do not attend the Gala Concert at the International Film music Festival Gandia. It will be offered to the next composer at the top of the finalist list. This does not affect your position as the winning composer. Should the hotel inform us, that for whatever reason it has become unavailable, then it will be changed immediately for a similar hotel by ScoreLive for the same advertised dates. TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION OPTION 2 1000€ TOWARDS ORGANISING YOUR OWN TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION If you prefer to manage your own travel and accommodation to join us, then you can. We will pay up to 1000€ towards your personal travel and accommodation that you organise. The travel and accommodation you organise must ensure you arrive in Gandia on or before July 15th and the day of the Gala Concert, July 16th. If you decide to manage your own travel and accommodation, but do not attend the Gala Concert at the International Film music Festival Gandia on the dates specified, the 1000€ will be nullified and you will not be reimbursed. RECEIPTS FOR SELF MANAGED TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION If you decide to manage your own travel and accommodation, you must first purchase your own travel and accommodation then provide the receipts, proof of purchase and payment to ScoreLive. Flight tickets must be in your name. Flight and Travel covered are for the winner only and based on economy return flights only to Spain. Once verified, you will be refunded within the 1000€ by bank transfer or PayPal on September 17th 2023. If for what ever reason you book and purchase your own travel and accommodation, but do not arrive and do not attend the Gala Concert at the International Film music Festival Gandia, your ScoreLive Competition prize will be nullified and not reimbursed. It will be offered to the next composer at the top of the finalist list. This does not affect your position as the winning composer. YOUR GALA CONCERT PERFORMANCE Your music will be the opening piece of music played at the Gala Concert at the International Film music Festival Gandia on September 16th 2023, 8pm. You must provide score and parts or work with our orchestrator to create your score and parts by the dates advertised above in the FAQ question DO I NEED TO SUBMIT MY SCORE & PARTS? If for what ever reason you do not meet these terms and conditions your music will not be played or used. It will be offered to the next composer at the top of the finalist list. This does not affect your position as the winning composer. YOUR ADDITIONAL COSTS Any and all other costs the winner may pay are not included in the prizes, eg food and drink, health insurance, travel insurance, additional travel, additional hotel expenses, additional flight expenses, etc THE WINNER’S OBLIGATION The ScoreLive Competition winner must attend the Gala Concert in person at the International Film Music Festival Gandia, 8pm, September 16th 2023. If the ScoreLive Competition winner is unable to attend the Gala Concert, for what ever reason, it will be offered to the next composer at the top of the finalist list. This does not affect your position as the winning composer. REFUNDS. We will return your registration fee within 7 days after registration, deducting all bank, credit card or PayPal transfer charges we incur upon receipt. Any return fee charges incurred by ourselves or the recipient will not be included. Registration fees will be returned via the same platform from which they were issued. PUBLISHING. We will publish your music on our ScoreLive Competition website or our ScoreLive Youtube channel once the competition has finished. From either of these sites, you can also link or embed your music to your personal websites. ScoreLive Competition reserve the right to make changes to the competition, add updates without notice, delay, postpone, reschedule and cancel the competition. If the ScoreLive Competition, the Gala Concert or the International Film Music Festival Gandia is cancelled, registration refunds will be made. Deadlines may be extended for individual cases whom have experienced technical issues, illness, accidents, covid, displacement or war apply. All the ScoreLive Competition details are subject to change. Due to the any recurrence of coronavirus, the form and content of the Gala Concert at the International Film Music Festival Gandia may change. If sufficient registrations are not met by August 21st 2023, the ScoreLive Competition will be closed on August 21st 2023, and all registration fee refunds made. All decisions by the Jury and ScoreLive Competition are final.
